Our family recently had the opportunity to participate in the Passholder Playtime to check out the new Toy Story Land. This event took place before the park opened from 8am-9am. This event did not cost anything extra but you do have to be an annual passholder and we had to sign up in advance. You could check in as early as 7:45 but we didn’t check in until well after 8. If you are taking the buses to Hollywood Studios make sure you add extra time just to get to the front gate as the bus stops have been moved quite a bit away from the entrance while the Skyliner is being built.

Once we got to the front gate there was a line just for those checking in to the playtime. Each of our magic bands were scanned to verify we are all annual passholders and Fastpasses for the Slinky Dog coaster and Alien saucers were loaded on to our bands. We were also given a green colored wrist band. I was surprised by how few people were here, which was great.

We made our way back to Toy Story Land which is just past where Pixar Place and original entrance for Toy Story Mania used to be. Since it was about halfway through our hour by the time we got back there we went straight to Slinky dog dash. Our tiny princess was too small to ride so I took our 6 year old first while hubby and the other girls waited for us. Even though we had a fastpass for the ride there was no one in the standby line.

Since there were so few people the castmember was the kids pick the seat they wanted so we go the very back. The ride was a bit bumpy especially toward the end. We really like the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train because it slows you down during the drops but this coaster did not have that. Our 9 year old decided not to ride at the last minute so hubby rode while the girls and I waited in a seating area right by the entrance to the ride.

We decided to ride Toy Story Mania next. The playtime did not include a fastpass for this ride but since there was barely any people we walked right on. We took our time walking through the standby line and checking out the new set up. We even stopped to listen to Mr. Potato head.

The exit to the ride is different too. There are green army men placed throughout along with a few walls perfect for photos. We decided to take a family photo by the popsicle wall. The oldest wanted to go on again so her and I went back to the entrance while hubby and the younger 2 hung out.

We went on the Alien Swirling Saucers last. We went in to the standby line and then used our fastpass to ride a 2nd time. The baby was just barely tall enough to ride but she seemed to enjoy it. It was a little bit like the Tea cup over at the Magic Kingdom but no so much spinning in a circle you move all over the place. It was fun and the whole family enjoyed it.

We really enjoyed the time we go to spend at Toy Story Land during this passholder event. There couldn’t have been more than 50 other people here with us which made for no waits on any of the rides. As soon as the park officially opened the crowds started pouring in and we made our way out to the rest of the park.

If you are a passholder I would strongly recommend taking advantage of this special playtime.
