It’s no surprise that you will come face to face with animals at Disneys Animal Kingdom. But this is not like your typical neighborhood zoo. One of the unique experiences here is the Kilimanjaro Safaris

This ride sits on 110 acres which is just 3 acres more than the Magic Kingdom! This is a must do at least once but I would recommend riding at least twice at different times of the day to see a variety of animals.

The ride is supposed to mimic a 2 week safari you might travel on if you were visiting Africa. You group will board a safari truck and your ride time will vary depending on the animals. Expect at least 20 minutes of ride time.

Just above there is an animal guide that will show the different animals you might encounter on your safari. Some are more common to see that others, chances of seeing giraffes and elephants are more common than the lions and white rhinos.

Throughout your trip your driver will help point out the animals along the way as well as tell you interesting facts about them and their habitats.

We usually ride first thing in the morning and have had great success in seeing a large variety of animals. These are real animals and they are mostly allowed to just wander at free will. We have had our truck stop or be held up multiple times for animals being on the road. My girls favorite memory was a giraffe that walked right up to our truck, probably the closest they will ever get to one of those

This ride does not have a height requirement but you will want to sit smaller kids on the inside so they don’t fall out or get too close to the animals. Unless you are heading straight for this ride at rope drop it may be worth it to get a Fastpass as the line can get long during busier times.
