This special exhibit is now closed and has been replaced with a new country.

This past weekend we decided to take a visit to the Magic House. We got to explore the new exhibit Kenya’s kids that has replaced Solve the mystery that used to be on the top floor in the new building. This is the first of several cultural geared exhibits in the new World Traveler gallery. This is an interactive area that allows kids to see what life is like for kids who live in Kenya. There is a school, home, market, even a pretend safari and feed baby elephants.

The school has words and numbers in English and Swahili. Kids can make a Kenyan flag or even write a card to send to a real kid in Kenya.

In part of the class room there are uniforms similar to the ones kids in Kenyan schools would wear.

Over in the home you can make a bracelet with the Kenyan colors. Outside the home is where you will find the kitchen with a stove cooking a stew. Kids can pound corn to make a flour common in cooking.

Over in the market kids can pretend to shop and there is even pretend Kenyan shillings for kids to buy their items with.

Over near the animal reserve kids can care for orphaned baby elephants. The girls like feeding them the giant bottles.

Lastly kids can pretend to take visitors on a safari ride through the animal reserve. The animals that make up the pretend reserve here are metal statues that are made in Kenya.

I some how didn’t get a picture inside the home or in the matatu, a vehicle commonly drove in Kenya and a bank type hut for getting the Kenyan money.

My girls had a lot of fun exploring this new exhibit, they could have played here our whole visit. I am excited to see what other countries they will be showcasing. Check out our other post to see more Magic House fun.

Kenya’s Kids is open June 11th until January 21 2019 and is included in your admission which is $11 per person over 1 year.
