As far back as I can remember I longed to go to Disney World. After all is that not the childhood “American dream”. My family and I traveled many places when I was young but alas Disney World was not one of them. So when my husband to be and I were planning our wedding I could think of no better place for our honeymoon. It was probably as much fun as I would have had going as a child. As we were enjoying our first visit together I told my husband I could not wait to come back with our children. So two years later we had our first daughter it didn’t take long before I was ready to go back, this time as a family. I did a lot more planning this time around, not just about Disney but traveling with a baby in general. We had such a good experience that when baby number two came along there was no question that we would go back.
If you have read other Disney blogs or even just discussed your thoughts of travel to Disney world with others you may hear negative comments about taking kids under 5. Well I completely disagree, and I am glad that I didn’t listen to other opinions because these trips have been some of the best memories I have. There are plenty of advantages to taking little ones on vacation. But you have to realize it will not be all sunshine and rainbows. If you prepare yourself before you go that not everything is going to be perfect and you may not be able to see/do everything you had planned I think your trip with be a success.
You definitely have to do a little research and planning before you go to Disney world. It’s not like a birthday party; you can’t just show up and expect to have a good time. Disney World is big. So big that it is actually its own city. There are 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, over 30 resorts, a sports complex and downtown shopping/entertainment section. All of this is connected by Disney’s transportation system consisting of buses, boats and monorails. The thought of it all can be down right intimidating. I hope that with this blog I can give you helpful tips and advice, maybe even tell some of our travel horror stories so that you can have the best trip with your family!
