Coronado Springs resort is one of Disney’s moderate priced resorts. It opened back in 1997 with an Mexican/southwest American feel. The original resort is largely spread out so much so there are several bus stops throughout the property. The resort also features a convention center which I think makes it less appealing to families with children. In the summer of 2019 they opened the Grand Destino tower with 15 floors of guestrooms, restaurants and shops all under 1 roof.
I was excited to stay in the tower because one of things we don’t care for is the long walk back to our rooms after spending the day in the park. While were usually the last drop off of the bus stops it was nice the front door was only steps away from our stop. The room itself was the largest standard room of any we have stayed on property.
In addition to the 2 queen beds there was several seating options including the desk but we missed having the little table normally found in the room. The kids had to take turns sitting at the table to eat our in room breakfast.
The room had a Keurig coffee maker along with a few coffee and tea cups. The mini fridge was almost too small compared to the ones we have had in other resort rooms.
The bathroom area was spacious. The whole area had sliding privacy doors and the toilet had a sliding door for extra privacy. The double sink was nice when the 4 of us were trying to all get ready. In addition the standard shampoo and soap they also provided a showercap, mouthwash, cooling aloe gel and lotion.
It was no surprise that the rooms have a shower and not a tub or the combo since this is more of an adult resort. My youngest is 4 so we can live without the bathtub at this point but if you are traveling with a baby or toddler you might want to stay in the older section of the resort were they offer the bathtubs.
There was plenty of space for us to store our luggage and stroller near the door. There was no closet but instead a small wardrobe for hanging a few items. This also housed the room safe, iron and ironing board. We really enjoyed the space in this room and I am glad we choose to stay here as I had written off this resort a long time ago just because it was so spread out. The tower is great because everything is in 1 building, no need for long walks to get to the bus or dining.
